The MMC, the Modular Multilevel Converter has many advantages over conventional voltage source converters, especially in HVDC sytems. In DC power transmission, micro grid or renewable energy applications the MMC's are gaining attention. The distinctive topology of the MMC provides a wide variety of new features, necessitating the use of a sophisticated controller for extra control requirements. Using Caspoc these new types of control can be evaluated using a full switched model. Various control strategies like for example PWM can be tested.
The simulation shows a series connection of 4 half-bridge modules per arm.
